Paracord Paradise was born in Bloemfontein, where I handcraft every bracelet, monkeyfist, lanyard, and survival accessory with care and precision. My work is inspired by bushcraft culture, rugged landscapes, and the belief that handmade gear carries a story. Every piece is tied by hand — no machines, no mass production — just craftsmanship and passion.
My mind-wellness life coaching and my paracord weaving hobby are beautifully connected through the idea of intentional resilience: both invite people to slow down, focus on one step at a time, and create strength through patience and practice. In coaching, I help others untangle thoughts, build healthier patterns, and weave together habits that support balance and personal growth. In paracord weaving, each knot becomes a physical reminder of that same process — small, mindful actions coming together to form something strong, useful, and meaningful. Together, these passions reflect my belief that wellness is not built all at once, but carefully woven through daily choices, creativity, and self-awareness.
WHAT IS PARACORD?
Paracord (short for “parachute cord”) is a lightweight, incredibly strong nylon or polyester utility rope. Originally used for the suspension lines of U.S. parachutes during World War II, it has since become a staple for outdoor survival, emergency kits, and everyday crafting. It features a kernmantle design: a woven, smooth outer sheath (the mantle) that protects an inner core of twisted threads (the kern). The most common type is Type III or “550 paracord.” It has a minimum breaking strength of 550 pounds (approx. 250 kg) and is usually 4 mm in diameter. The inner core usually consists of several independent threads (seven strands is common). These can be pulled out and used individually for finer tasks.
Due to its high strength-to-weight ratio, it is widely used in camping, hiking, and emergency “bug-out” bags. In emergencies, the inner threads can be unraveled and used as fishing line, to trap animals or birds, as sewing thread, or dental floss etc.
